Ceramic fuse boards. Plenty of Adelaide homes — especially those built before the 1990s — still run on ceramic rewireable fuses. When a fault occurs the fuse wire melts and the whole circuit dies until it’s rewired by hand. There’s no fast electronic protection and no safety switch, which means a far slower response to dangerous faults.
