Data & Network
Cabling

Reliable wired internet beats Wi-Fi every time. Cat5e and Cat6 structured cabling for homes, offices, and commercial fit-outs across Adelaide.

Home & Office

Data Cabling for Adelaide Homes & Businesses

Wired ethernet delivers speeds and reliability that Wi-Fi simply can’t match, and this is especially true in Adelaide’s older stone and brick homes. Thick sandstone and double-brick walls kill wireless signals, leaving you with dead spots, slow speeds, and frustrating dropouts in parts of your home that are more than one room away from the router. A properly installed Cat6 network gives every device in your home a direct, fast, stable connection regardless of where you are in the building.

The shift to working from home has made a quality home office setup essential for many Adelaide households. A dedicated ethernet connection in your study or home office eliminates video call dropouts, slow file transfers, and the general frustration of trying to work on a marginal Wi-Fi signal. We can run a Cat6 cable to your home office, install a wall-mounted network point, and set you up with a connection that’s suitable for professional use. No powerline adapters, no Wi-Fi extenders, no compromise — just a direct cable from your modem to your desk.

Commercial and business cabling is a significant part of our work. Whether you’re fit-ting out a new office, upgrading an existing network, or adding points to support new workstations, we design and install structured cabling solutions that meet your current needs and scale with your business. We work with your IT team or provider to ensure cable runs, patch panels, and switch locations are positioned correctly from the start, saving the cost and frustration of retrofitting later.

Network point installation in residential homes is one of our most popular services. We can add ethernet points to any room — living areas for smart TVs and gaming consoles, bedrooms for desktops and laptops, and outdoor entertainment areas for streaming and smart speakers. Each point is installed with a proper wall plate and terminated correctly, giving you clean, permanent connectivity wherever you need it.

What We Install

Data Cabling Services

Cat5e and Cat6 cable runs are the backbone of any structured cabling installation. We use quality cable from reputable manufacturers and terminate every run correctly, testing each point before we hand the job over. All cable runs are installed as neatly as possible, through roof spaces and wall cavities where accessible, and all penetrations are properly sealed and weather-protected where required. We don’t just run cable — we do it properly.

Patch panels and network racks are the heart of a properly structured cabling system, particularly for larger homes and commercial installs with multiple network points. A patch panel consolidates all your cable runs into a single, organised termination point, making it easy for your IT provider to connect and reconfigure the network. We install wall-mounted network cabinets in neatly chosen locations — usually a comms room, laundry, or cupboard — and label every port clearly. A neat, well-organised comms cabinet is a sign of a job done right.

Wall-mounted network points are installed to a consistent, professional standard. We use quality RJ45 keystones and wall plates that match the aesthetic of your home or office, available in standard white or a range of colours to suit your fitout. Each point is clearly labelled to correspond with its patch panel port, making the system easy to manage. We test every point with a cable tester before the job is signed off.

CCTV and security cabling often overlaps with our data cabling work. Many modern IP security cameras use the same Cat6 cabling infrastructure, and PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras can be powered directly through the data cable without a separate power supply. We can install the cabling infrastructure for IP CCTV systems, working alongside your security installer or providing a complete install including camera positioning and NVR setup.

FAQ

Common Questions

Ask Jake
How much does data cabling cost?+
Data cabling pricing depends on the number of network points and the length of the cable runs required. As a general guide, most single data points installed in a residential home cost between $150 and $250 per point, including the cable run, wall plate, and termination. Commercial jobs with patch panels are quoted on a project basis. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.
Cat5e or Cat6 — which do I need?+
We recommend Cat6 for all new installations. Cat6 supports 10 Gigabit speeds over shorter runs and is significantly better shielded against interference compared to Cat5e. The cost difference per point is minor, and future-proofing your home or office with Cat6 is the smarter long-term investment.
Can you run cables in an existing home without damaging walls?+
Yes. This is one of the most common requests we get and we’re experienced at routing cables through existing structures with minimal impact. We use roof spaces, wall cavities, and existing conduit runs wherever possible. In most homes we can get a cable from one end of the building to another without cutting a single hole you’d notice.
Do you install network racks and patch panels?+
Yes. For home offices, businesses, and larger residential installs, we supply and install full structured cabling solutions including wall-mounted network racks, 24-port patch panels, and cable management accessories. Everything is neatly labelled so your IT team or internet provider can connect equipment without confusion.
Can you cable a new build or renovation?+
Absolutely. Rough-in cabling during a new build or before plaster goes up is the ideal time to install data cabling cost-effectively. We work alongside your builder and other trades to get cables in the right locations before walls are closed, saving you the cost and mess of retrofitting later.
