Home Entertainment Electrical, Done Properly

A great home entertainment set-up isn’t just about the TV or the sound system — it’s about how it’s wired. The most common complaint I hear from homeowners is a tangle of cords hanging beneath a wall-mounted TV, or a media cabinet with power boards and cables spilling out the back. It doesn’t need to look like that. With the cabling run inside the wall or concealed through the joinery, the whole room reads as considered and finished, not like an afterthought.

Concealed cabling means chasing a cavity into the wall or fishing cable through the existing wall space, running properly rated in-wall cable back to a power source or a new powerpoint, and finishing everything to a standard that meets AS/NZS 3000. It’s a straightforward job for a licensed electrician, but it’s not something to hand to just anyone — the cable type, the fire rating, and the point of connection all matter.

I also take the time to get the practical details right: mounting height and position for comfortable viewing, the correct bracket for your wall type and TV size, and where the power and data points need to land so the cabling run is as clean and direct as possible. Getting this right before the drill comes out saves a lot of hassle later.

The same concealed approach carries through to media cabinets, floating shelves, and feature lighting around the TV or entertainment unit — so the whole space, not just the screen, looks like it was designed that way from the start.

What We Do

What’s Included In A Home Entertainment Install

Wall-mounted TV installation with concealed cabling is the job I’m asked for most. I fit the bracket to suit your wall and TV, then run the power and any HDMI or data cable inside the wall cavity, finishing with a recessed plate if needed. No visible cords, no cable covers stuck to the plaster — just a clean screen on the wall.

Media and entertainment cabinet wiring is the other half of a tidy set-up. I install powerpoints and data points inside the cabinet or joinery itself, so your streaming box, game console, router, and amplifier all sit inside with power and network access built in, rather than cords running out the back or across the floor to the nearest wall socket.

LED feature and shelf lighting finishes the look. I wire LED strip lighting under floating shelves, behind the TV as a feature wash, or inside cabinetry, with dimmable or smart controls where you want them. It’s a small addition that makes a real difference to how the whole room feels in the evening.

For bigger set-ups, I wire home theatre and surround sound systems — power and speaker cable runs to wall or ceiling-mounted speakers, subwoofer power points, and connections for amplifiers and receivers — plus any extra powerpoints, HDMI runs, or dedicated data points your smart TV needs for a stable wired network connection rather than relying on Wi-Fi.

Pricing

Home Entertainment Installation Cost Adelaide

Most wall-mounted TV jobs with concealed cabling cost between $250 and $600. A standard plasterboard wall with a powerpoint already nearby sits toward the lower end. Brick veneer, rendered, or heritage walls, longer cable runs to a media cabinet, or the addition of a new powerpoint push things toward the upper end. I give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the day.

Wall type is the biggest factor in price — plasterboard is quick to chase and patch, while brick, masonry, or double-brick heritage walls take longer and sometimes call for surface-mounted conduit instead of a fully concealed chase. The distance between the TV and the power or data source, and whether a media cabinet also needs wiring for power and data, are the other main variables. I’ll always talk you through the options for your specific room before quoting.

Quotes are free and obligation-free. I’ll come out, look at your wall, your TV size, and where you want everything to land, and give you a clear written price on the spot. Call 0405 538 065 or use the form below to book a time.

Common Questions

Ask Jake
Can you mount my TV and hide the cables?+
Yes — this is one of our most requested jobs. I mount your TV securely using the correct bracket for your wall type (plasterboard, brick, or heritage lath and plaster), then run the power and any HDMI or data cabling inside the wall cavity so nothing is visible. The result is a clean screen with no hanging cords or bulky cable covers.
Do you install power points behind the TV?+
Absolutely. Rather than running an extension cord up from a skirting powerpoint, I install a dedicated powerpoint directly behind the TV, positioned to sit hidden once the TV is mounted. I can also fit a recessed in-wall power and HDMI plate if you want a completely flush finish.
Can you wire a media cabinet with power and data inside?+
Yes. I regularly wire media cabinets and entertainment units with powerpoints and data points built in, so your Foxtel box, game console, router, or amplifier all have power and network access inside the joinery, with no cords running across the floor or out the back of the cabinet.
Do you do surround sound and home theatre wiring?+
Yes, I wire home theatre and surround sound set-ups, including power and speaker cable runs to wall or ceiling-mounted speakers, subwoofer power points, and connections for amplifiers and receivers. Cabling can be run within the walls and ceiling so your home theatre looks as good as it sounds.
How much does TV wall mounting cost in Adelaide?+
Most wall-mounted TV jobs with concealed cabling cost between $250 and $600, depending on your wall type, how far the cable needs to run, and whether a new powerpoint is required. A straightforward plasterboard wall with a nearby power source sits at the lower end; brick veneer, heritage walls, or longer runs to a media cabinet cost a little more. I’ll always give you a fixed price upfront.
